Beach Road Rehabilitation

Between 2018 and 2020, the Beach Road Rehabilitation project was undertaken in the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Ontario, to revitalize a vital stretch of infrastructure for the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. Spanning 1.2 kilometers along the scenic waterfront, the project involved the comprehensive rehabilitation of the roadway, the design and construction of a new seawall, and the rehabilitation of a single-span bridge. This initiative was crucial for enhancing transportation safety and efficiency, protecting the shoreline from erosion, and preserving the natural beauty of the area for future generations.

Our team provided a full suite of civil and structural engineering services throughout all phases of the project. During the preliminary and detailed design stages, we developed innovative solutions to address the unique challenges posed by the site's proximity to the water. The seawall was meticulously designed to withstand hydrodynamic forces while minimizing environmental impact, ensuring long-term durability and ecological harmony. The bridge rehabilitation required careful structural assessments and the implementation of reinforcement strategies to extend its service life and improve safety standards.

In addition to design services, we assisted during the tendering process by issuing addenda, reviewing tender submissions, and providing award recommendations. During construction, we offered comprehensive contract administration and inspection services, closely monitoring progress to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements. Collaboration with the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte was integral to the project's success; we worked closely with the community to ensure that the rehabilitation respected cultural values and addressed local needs. The successful completion of the Beach Road Rehabilitation project not only improved critical infrastructure but also contributed to the sustainable development and well-being of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
